Our morning drive ended at Wind Cave National Park with a tour. I apologize upfront to those readers who aren't geology freaks but we were less than 30 miles from the cave we visited yesterday and this one is totally different in structure and formations. It was loaded with what are called boxwork deposits that look like honeycomb and are found almost nowhere else in the world. It was a true caving experience - narrow low passages!

We picnicked by a gorgeous lake where kids were swimming and I decided to get my suit on and refresh my tan. I got up to my knees before the first signs of hypothermia set in and instead sat on the rocky shore. Those kids are crazy!!! I saw a path around the lake and suggested we get our walk in. Who knew it didn't just go around the lake?! It was a nice hike (in my sandals and swimsuit) up down around and over those massive rocks.

We are now on our venture to Medora, North Dakota - home to our next assignments; Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Cowboy Hall of Fame. Donnie was just convinced that Joe and Pat Garrett would be sending us to the far east side of ND since we were on the west edge of SD but they were kind :). And FYI - to those of you who are picking our sites, know that Pat set the bar high. Instead of giving us a destination, she emailed an itinerary that had camping choices, our 2 destinations, and a location for lunch and dinner(all with built in links). Can you tell Pat has time on her hands now that she has retired? And did I mention that they paid for our dinner?! What great friends we have. I really do appreciate all of you that are playing along with our Amazing Race by scoping out adventures. It is working just as we planned; we aren't missing going to work yet :)
Stats:
$28.68 ice/groceries
$48.10 gas
$18 cave tour
341 Miles
Motel room $125 and worth every penny
Last minute adjustment - as we traveled to ND and watched the storms develop to the north we decided not to chance another night in the truck so went in search of a motel. We landed in Dickenson, about a half hour east of Medora
