Great City Great Day

Omaha was an excellent visit! We spent hours wandering the zoo. Having enjoyed the St Louis Zoo all my life makes it difficult to impress me but I was definitely impressed. Loved the rainforest, the desert, the up close and personal extensive gorilla facility and the aquarium. Watching all the families and the excitement of the little ones, I kept thinking that someday I'll bring my grand baby here.

Next we headed downtown for lunch in the Old Market area, walked the pedestrian bridge across the Missouri River, followed the sculpture park statues to complete our assignment, visited the Heritage Park and tried to get to Lewis and Clark Landing but floodwaters are still up here.

We put a lot of miles on my tired feet so will be forgoing our evening walk. We've decided to spend one more day in Nebraska. Donnie has a great memory of a trip with his parents to Pioneer Village in Minden (south central) Nebraska so we are heading that direction for tonight and will explore there tomorrow before heading NW to Wall, SD to visit Wall Drugs. That is our next mission.

Stats for today:

235 miles
$57.75 gas (3.45 a gal)
$15.17 lunch
$34 zoo entry,postcard,snack
$1.25 parking
$16 camping
