Doppler Donnie to the Rescue

Last evening was gorgeous as we set up camp, grilled dinner, and took a long walk. As I started to settle in for a nice sleep Donnie thought we should check the weather. Ah, the wonders of technology not available to us in our earlier camping years! Sure enough, a chance of severe storms overnight.

Just before midnight Donnie woke me up to ominous wind sounds and said we should probably head for the truck. Mr. Readiness had cleared the back seat and front passenger seat of stuff so we could each sleep there if need be. We decided to go ahead and deflate the air mattress and tear down the tent so it would remain dry for another day. We did that, threw them under the truck bedcover, and took our pillows and blankets inside the truck just as it hit. The rest of the night was lightning strikes, massive amounts of rain, and strong winds.

I don't say we had a restful or comfy sleep the rest of the night but we got a little rest and it was way better than the alternative. Rain hasn't quite quit but we are grabbing umbrellas and heading into Omaha. Gotta love an adventure!
